Directions to campsite

The main town of Castlebay at the South East of the Isle of Barra is the main ferry port which has a daily summer service to the Scottish mainland port of Oban. There are also services to the Isles of Coll, Tiree & south Uist.

The A888 road circles the main Island. If you travel via the West side the road to Northbay is around 8 miles long and less hilly than via the East which is around six miles long. There is a main junction at Northbay sign posted for the Airport, turn off the A888 at this point. As you travel in a Northerly direction you will pass a sign for the Ardmhor ferry terminal which supports a vehicle ferry service to the Isles of Eriskay & S.Uist several times each day. Continue on straight past these cross roads,  at this point the beach runway begins to come into view and Airport building is less than one mile further on from where there is a daily service to Glasgow and Benbecula. Continue past the airport in a northerly direction past the primary school into the village of Eoligarry and take a left at the first junction until you come to a graveyard where there is a second junction. Take the left option at this junction past the church until you come to the third junction where there is a bus shelter and take left again, continue for 1.1 mile. At the midway point you will pass a pebble beach on the left and further on four detached homes on the left. At this point you will pass a campsite on the left and 100 meters down a slight incline you will come to croft No 2camp site. It is obscured by agricultural buildings as you approach but there is a large sign on the gate post entrance. The owner’s home is the next house on the left. The next house again is the turning point at the end of the road.

Follow the road past the primary school into the village of Eoligarry and take a left at the first junction until you come to a graveyard where there is a second junction. Take the left option at this junction past the church until you come to the third junction where there is a bus shelter and take left again, continue for 1.1 mile. At the midway point you will pass a pebble beach on the left and further on four detached homes on the left. At this point you will pass a 10 vehicle campsite on the left and 100 meters down a slight incline you will come to croft No 2camp site.
